Learn about the Marines Raiders from the Special Operations Community. In 1942, the first two Raider Battalions were created to unleash highly trained Marines in the Pacific during World War II. The battalions were decommissioned at the end of World War II until February 2006 when the Marine Corps stood up three battalions called, Marine Special Operations Battalions. These battalions fall under Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC) and US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).
Since their rebirth in 2007, they have deployed at an unprecedented rate and have upheld the tradition and deadly precision of the first Raiders. In 2014, the Marine Special Operations Command formally changed the name of this new band of Marine Special Operators to Marine Raiders. In honor of these Marines and the service they provide, the Marine Raider Foundation, presents - Raider Invasion 2019.
